Cultural Meetup! Kitab & CYA Host an Evening to Remember

Kitab (meaning book and also knowledge) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to working with refugee teens and young adults residing in Greece. Kitab creates an individualized education plan for each student, and matches them with college students in Athens and with professionals from anywhere around the world and work towards certification in the careers of their choice.

CYA Teaming-up with Kitab

An exciting initiative conceived by our very own inspirational & dedicated Student Affairs Director, Nadia Melinioti, has recently seen CYA/DIKEMES partner up with Kitab. We will be pooling our resources to extend opportunities for CYA students to become involved in this truly amazing cultural exchange; allowing them to engage with refugee teens and become mentors. At the same time, we are granting a group of young refugee students access to our computer and library facilities which will see them coming to CYA and working alongside CYA’ers. Building a truly rich and rewarding learning environment benefiting both sides. And this is just the start…

To celebrate the beginning of this new and exciting collaboration, Kitab and CYA hosted an evening to remember. Four Kitab students had a chance meet, socialize and dine with CYA students at a local taverna. They tried Greek food and learned about the Greek culture and how it is different or similar to their own culture.  Everyone had a wonderful time and left having gained a new friend and some valuable insight into a different culture. We look forward to our ongoing collaboration with Kitab and can’t wait to share more stories with you, stay tuned!
