Greece is known for its breathtaking islands, where the water is so blue that you can see straight to the bottom, no matter how deep it is. There are so many islands that it’s overwhelming to find just one to travel to. We’ve narrowed it down for you by asking CYA students, staff, and faculty what their favorite islands are!
CYA students set out to discover the secrets of traditional Greek cheesemaking
Last week a group of cheese-loving CYA students and our Director of Student Affairs, Nadia Meliniotis, visited one of Greece’s most famous creameries: the Kostarelos Cheese & Dairy Family Business.
CYA class has the rare opportunity to go inside the Parthenon!
“The Topography and Monuments of Athens” course offers a comprehensive overview of the topography, archaeology and history of Athens, focusing particularly on the great monuments of the Classical and Roman city.
Popi Baloglu is CYA’s Director of Housing and Catering and the longest-serving member of the CYA staff. This year Popi completed 30 years working for CYA! During this time, she has been a key player in CYA’s operations and the go-to person for all issues relating to housing and food.
One of the things I love about studying at CYA is the view from the Academic Center. When you look outside the window and gaze west, you see the powerful spectacle of the Parthenon. Between you and that magnificent monument, there is a big block of green, right across the street from CYA: The Athens National Garden. Today I set off on a journey to explore this beautiful part of the city!
If you’re in Greece, you can already engage with gorgeous views and experiences. Ruins, art, a beautiful Mediterranean landscape – this country has got a lot to offer. But if you’re a CYA student, you have another opportunity to take part in something truly extraordinary: learning how to carve marble at one of the oldest studios in Greece.
